Providing Training and Resources |
|
We have delivered training in fundraising to members of faith communities and faith-based organisations from all across Glasgow. Fit For Funding is delivered locally several times a year to ensure it is relevant for local people. We have also delivered training to support volunteering structures and make volunteering more sustainable. Valuing Volunteers will take place twice a year. We have hosted training for voluntary sector organisations, looking at how to develop Participatory Budgeting in Glasgow. We have worked with agencies like Bridging the Gap (Gorbals), Amina (Govanhill), Cranhill Community Project and Heart for the City to develop the capacity of staff volunteers, and board members.

Supporting Local Faith Communities |
|
We are supporting churches in all the major areas of the city. We are currently working at an intense level with Garthamlock & Craigend East, Cranhill and Pollokshaws Churches of Scotland to think about how they can help meet the varying needs of their communities. This work might involve helping develop their buildings and supporting them to raise substantial sums of money. We are also working with faith communities in Maryhill, Parkhead, Castlemilk, Cranhill and Barlanark to help develop new services and to expand existing ones for local communities.

In recent years we have helped facilitate the Church of Scotland’s Priority Areas Consultation, helping a group of 100 people to develop and agree their organisational and budgetary priorities for the coming years. We carried out research on the role of Social Enterprise as a Regeneration Tool for community projects and provided training for 3 projects. We have generated statistical reports on most of the 36 areas in which the team works in Glasgow. These are used to inform our work and help local people understand the needs of the area, and demonstrate the need for resources or supports.
